Ethics and Society
Pre-college summer program, Rice University, Department of Philosophy, 2020
Instructor, Summer 2020 – Summer 2021.
A three-week summer intensive in ethics for Houston-area high school students, offered through the Rice University Department of Philosophy and designed for students with no background in philosophy.
Students learned about ethical theories, such as consequentialism, Kantian ethics, virtue ethics, care ethics, and feminism and had site visits with engineers at NURO self-driving vehicles, clinical ethicists at Baylor College of Medicine’s Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy, and refugee services staff at Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston. The program closed with a public symposium in which students analyzed real-world cases using the ethical theories.
